PROVINCIAL CHAPTER 2023: DAY SIX
THEME: MSC MISSION AND ECOLOGY IN THE PACIFIC
Day Six begins with the prayer, reflection and communal wisdom on Mission in the Pacific and Overseas. Fr Chris assisted the members in reflecting on the writing of Fr Jules Chevalier MSC the founder of the MSC Society in regard to his response letter to Cardinal Simeoni accepting the Mission to the Micronesia and Melanesia.
"Following the example of Mary, in all simplicity we have made known our obvious inadequacy, our well-founded misgivings. Sinc, despite this honest admission, you are saying to us, as the Angel did, "Fear nothing; accept the offer which is made to you, the Spirit of God will be with you, the power of the Most High will overshadow you", respectfully we submit our humble Congregation answers with the Virgin of Nazareth; "Behold the servant of the Lord, let what you have said be done to me." And with Saint Peter, "At your word, I shall cast the net." Jules Chevalier, 1881
Day six was divided into four sessions: Mission in the Pacific and overseas, approval of the amendments of the Provincial Statutes, Provincial Finance report and the presentation from the Chevalier Family Laity.
The members of the Chapter came together in the morning first session to look into the MSC Mission in the Pacific and abroad. Fr Chris Chaplin MSC guided the members with the compass of Mission in order to analyze our current ministries and apostolates in order to determine the future of the Congregation locally and globally.
At the afternoon sessions Br Kaake and his finance team presented the audited Finance Reports to the Chapter. We are thankful for Mr Ioane and Mrs Ana for their hard work to put together the finance documents. Finance is always an important aspect of mission in the life of all Society in the Church. We continue to thank our benefactors and generous cheerful givers, for without them our mission will be impossible.
Mass at 5.00pm followed by dinner and the last session of the day six at 7.00pm presented by the Chevalier Family Laity from Fiji and Futuna.
